I do not doubt for a second that those involved in KONY 2012 have great intentions, nor…
i rewrote this answer a few times, mind you.
at the end of the day, i am the most hopeless of hopeless when it comes to romantics. i want to believe that there is someone for everyone, soul-mates, even; and one day…if the fates should have it, it will happen the way it’s meant to. that being said, i take a very cynical approach to such fantasies in every day life. i want those things to be true…destiny, fate, love, etc… but i am aware that many people settle for what is in front of them whether it be “destiny”/”fate”/”love” alike. the world around me seems “too busy”, “too self-involved” to be “bothered” with such things as fiction-like romance. life gets in the way, y’know?
but i don’t feel that luck has anything to do with love. luck holds no weight for me, it’s merely an expression of gratitude for a positive occurrence. karma, on the other hand is a different story.
i will say, the one thing i have held onto is that everything has a purpose, and sometimes you’re not meant to understand what that purpose is. (which is difficult and very frustrating for someone who likes to have an explanation for just about everything.)
i’ve grown to believe that you carve your own path in life through the decisions that you make – ultimately, your future belongs to you. not luck, not the stars, not ever changing weather, but you.
…and before you go quoting me on my opinions, i will openly admit my own contradictions.
i don’t know if that really answered the question… if i had to pick between the two, destiny.
